The western province had found themselves on the backfoot for the majority of the contest but defended resolutely until they were eventually broken down by Josh van der Flier.
The flanker powered his way over from a couple of metres out and after consulting with the TMO, referee George Clancy awarded the try. From there, Leinster took complete control before seeing out the win.

But the game-clinching score was contentious, to say the least. Clancy slipped on the greasy surface in the build-up and couldn’t have been in the best position to determine whether van der Flier grounded the ball.
Nonetheless, he asked the TMO ‘is there any reason I cannot award the try?’ and although replays proved inconclusive, Marshall Kilgore saw no reason to chalk it off.
