Good news for Leinster as Carbery, Ross, Kearney and McFadden set for injury return

The quartet are in line to feature against Treviso this weekend.

JOEY CARBERY IS expected to make his first appearance in eight weeks on Sunday when Leinster resume their Guinness Pro12 campaign against Treviso.

The out-half has been sidelined since early December after picking up an ankle injury in the Champions Cup victory over Northampton but is now nearing the final stages of his comeback.

Carbery underwent surgery to rectify the problem but had been back in training over the last number of weeks.

The 21-year-old is one of a number of long-term absentees back available to Leo Cullen with Mike Ross, Fergus McFadden and Dave Kearney set to feature in Italy this weekend.

Ross has been out of action since November after suffering a ‘high grade’ hamstring injury while Kearney and McFadden haven’t featured for the province since October.

Backs coach Girvan Dempsey issues a largely positive injury update at UCD this afternoon with captain Isa Nacewa now fully recovered from the dead leg which forced him off early in the draw with Castres last month.

However, Rhys Ruddock and Tom Daly have both been ruled out of this weekend with the latter facing an extended period on the sidelines after injuring his medial ligament playing for Lansdowne at the weekend.

Leinster go into Sunday’s game against the Italians third in the Pro12 standings behind Munster and Ospreys.
