Celtic striker Griffiths slapped with one-match ban for 'provoking' Linfield fans

The Scottish international has been punished for tying a Celtic scarf around the goalposts.

LEIGH GRIFFITHS WILL be unavailable for the first leg of Celtic’s Champions League third qualifying round tie with Rosenborg after he was handed a one-game suspension by Uefa.

The striker received the punishment for ‘provoking spectators’ at the end of Celtic’s victory over Linfield in Belfast, while the club have been fined £4,000 for Griffiths’ actions.

The 26-year-old Scottish international tied a Celtic scarf to the Windsor Park goalposts at full time.

Linfield have also been punished by Uefa for a number of incidents involving their supporters, with the Irish club hit with a £9,000 fine as well as partial stadium closure for their next home European tie.

Celtic have also been charged over an ‘illicit banner’ displayed during last night’s second leg at Celtic Park.
