Peak 'banter' reached as Leicester boss claims players were served ostrich burgers

Nigel Pearson is still ruffling feathers.

AFTER CAUSING A flap in the media this week for labelling a local journalist an ostrich, Leicester City Manager Nigel Pearson, has ruffled more feathers by revealing his players ate ostrich burgers before their 3-0 win over the Magpies this weekend.

Pearson, who subsequently apologised for his, ahem, nesty comments, was roundly criticised but said that players and staff at the club had not been afraid to pull his leg over the incident.

When pressed for details, Pearson claimed there was a very special addition to the club’s canteen:

“What, apart from having ostrich burgers at the training ground?

“There’s been a bit of banter. You have to be able to laugh at yourself – and allow other people to do that.”

Leicester, who have picked up 15 points from the last 18 available, face Southampton, Sunderland and Queens Park Rangers in their final three games as they bid to avoid relegation.
