Stunning Patrick McEleney chip among the latest Goal of the Month nominations

Here are the best SSE Airtricity League Premier Division strikes from July.

DESPITE SUGGESTIONS THAT Dundalk forward Patrick McEleney could have his own separate competition all to himself, the Derry man has just one contender in the Premier Division Goal of the Month competition for July.

Among the outstanding contenders last night were the 24-year-old’s chip against Drogheda, a fine solo effort from Chiedozie Ogbene and Jimmy Keohane’s stunning curler versus Limerick, complete with trademark George Hamilton “it’s there!”

Which, by definition, makes any goal 10 times better viewing.

Three of July’s contestants come from league leaders Cork City, with one for Limerick, Derry City, St Pat’s and Dundalk – with three out of seven also coming against struggling Limerick.

Below are Soccer Republic’s seven contenders for July’s Goal of the Month competition.

Which is your favourite?
