Laurent Blanc calls Jose Mourinho a 'genius' on the back of Chelsea's 4-2 loss to Bradford

The PSG coach is hoping to avenge his side’s loss to Chelsea in the Champions League last year.

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN coach Laurent Blanc has labelled Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho a “genius” following his side’s FA Cup elimination earlier this year.

The Premier League leaders were beaten 4-2 by Bradford City on 24 January, meaning they have a weekend off ahead of the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie with PSG on Tuesday.

And Blanc feels that the defeat has worked out perfectly for the Blues.

“Our Champions League tie with Chelsea? Mourinho is a genius,” Blanc was quoted as saying by L’Equipe.

“They lost the FA Cup game against Bradford 4-2, which gave them a week to prepare for the Champions League game against us.

“Just think about the tsunami of criticism there would have been if PSG had lost a game like that.

“People would have said PSG’s coach does not understand anything. It’s like that.”

Paris Saint-Germain beat Chelsea 3-1 in the first leg of their quarter-final tie last year, only to eventually crash out on the away-goals rule after a 2-0 defeat in the return.
