ON THE EVE of the Euro 2016 tournament, France midfielder Lassana Diarra has been hit with a massive personal blow after the Court of Arbitration for Sport has ruled against him in a legal battle.
The Marseille man has been fined €10 million by the CAS after losing his breach of contract case with Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow.
The former Chelsea, Arsenal and Real Madrid man moved to the club in 2013 and played for one season before falling out with the manager – Leonid Kuchuk.

When he refused to train or play, he was sacked in 2014 and because of the legal wrangle, he was prevented from joining another team until the following summer.
In 2015, he returned to France and signed for Marseille but Lokomotiv were still peeved at his behaviour and brought it to the attention of the world governing body, who found in their favour.
FIFA have ruled that Lassana Diarra has to pay Lokomotiv Moscow €10.5 million after he went missing last summer.
Diarra appealed to the CAS but the decision has been upheld, with the 31-year-old confirming the news on his Twitter page.
Having already served a 15-month suspension, Diarra must pay €110,000 to the CAS as well as the €10 million fine.

He thanked those that have been ‘by his side’ throughout the ‘difficult period’ but said the subject was now a ‘closed chapter’ and that he intends to concentrate on representing France this summer.
