LAOIS CRUISED INTO the Leinster senior football championship quarter-finals with a 17-point drubbing of Carlow.
Goals from Conor Boyle, Donie Kingston and Tom Shiel steered the O’Moores to a comfortable 3-16 to 0-8 win in Netwatch Cullen Park.
It sets up a quarter-final clash with Kildare on 6 June while Carlow will try to salvage something from their summer in the qualifiers.
Darren Strong kicked the opening point of Laois’s campaign inside the opening two minutes and Tomás Ó Flatharta’s side took advantage of the breeze to begin with six points without reply.
Boyle’s goal in the 25th minute put them ahead by seven, 1-7 to 0-3, and three more unanswered points saw them stretch that advantage to double-figures by the break.
The game was already beyond Carlow when Kingston raised a green flag to make it 2-14 to 0-6 in the 53rd minute.
