Laois could face qualifier replay with Armagh after use of seven subs in Saturday's win

The O’Moore county have been drawn to face Clare in the next round of the qualifiers.

LAOIS MAY HAVE to face an All-Ireland football qualifier replay after it emerged that they fielded seven substitutes in their 1-10 to 0-10 win against Armagh on Saturday afternoon.

A Conor Meredith goal separated the sides in Portlaoise but it emerged today, as first reported by the Irish Examiner, that the O’Moore County made one substitute too many in the fixture.

The42 tonight understands that the GAA’s CCCC could be set to order a replay of the fixture yet it’s unclear whether Armagh will have the appetite for a replay.

The Laois county board refused to comment on the matter while the Armagh county board said they were unaware of any review taking place when contacted by The42 this evening.

The O’Moore county were this morning drawn to face Clare away in a Division 2A qualifier on the weekend of 2/3 July.

Laois manager Mick Lillis’ seven substitutions during the game were:

  • Alan Farrell for Darren Strong (44)
  • Jamie Farrell for Kevin Meaney (50)
  • Matt Campion for Niall Donoher (52)
  • Ross Munnelly for David Conway (54)
  • Gary Walsh for Paul Cahillane (58)
  • Gareth Dillon for Conor Meredith (70)
  • Shane Murphy for Brendan Quigley (black card, 73).
