But it was confirmed today that the Camogie Association and the LGFA have reached an agreement to avoid major fixture clashes, with the games to take place on alternate weekend days.
“What we want to do is make sure the players ultimately win on that, so that our dual players don’t have to play two games in four or five hours,” revealed Camogie Association President Catherine Neary.
“It’s something we’ve been working on for some time. Both our associations just felt it’s time for us. that we had it in our destiny if we worked together.
“We want to make sure that our players are first, so I think the way to do that is to action it rather than to talk about it.
“I don’t know will we avoid all clashes because draws are the pain of everybody’s life but in the main we try to avoid it as much as possible.
“There are still some possibilities because it’s very hard to know who’s going to end up in some of the knockout stages of the championships.
“We have to see how we go as the year progresses but I think the fact that both associations are talking together and trying to work together for the best of both sports and the best of the players, that makes a difference.”
