DAVE BEASSANT FAMOUSLY dropped a jar of salad dressing on his foot, Santiago Canizares missed a World Cup after an aftershave incident, and Darius Vassell sent a power drill through his toe while bursting a blister.
And now Celtic’s Kris Commons can add himself to the long, long list of footballers who have picked up bizarre injuries off the pitch, after fracturing his small toe with a wardrobe door.

Commons is now a doubt for their Champions League second round qualifier against Icelandic side Stjarnan in two weeks, after assistant coach John Collins confirmed he’s been restricted to gym work for the last week, following a run in with his closet.
The injury, according to Collins, was quite literally a wardrobe malfunction, as he dropped a wardrobe door on his feet, damaging his toe.
“I’m told something fell on him – I think it was a wardrobe door or something.
“It’s disappointing he’s missed a week of training at this stage, but he still has a good fitness level. We’ll see if he’s ready for the [Champions League qualifying] matches,” Collins said.
“Hopefully, in the next couple of days Kris should be back training on the grass,” he added.
