OVERTURNING A 5-1 first-leg deficit was always going to be extremely difficult for Arsenal tonight, but their task was made virtually impossible in the 55th minute.

After Theo Walcott’s first-half goal gave the Gunners a glimmer of hope, the hosts saw all chance of an unlikely triumph fade when Laurent Koscielny was adjudged to have impeded Robert Lewandowski in the box.

To make matters worse, the French international was sent off for the foul, before Lewandowski converted the ensuing spot kick, killing any hope of an Arsenal comeback in the process.
