Four years ago Kildare and Monaghan served up an excellent Round 4 qualifier contest in Croke Park with Monaghan prevailing. We’ll hope for something similar today. Kildare arrive here with serious momentum after picking off Derry, Longford, Mayo and Fermanagh. Monaghan’s qualifier recovery saw victories over Division 4 opponents in Waterford, Leitrim and Laois. Who can keep building today?
After the heat of the last few weeks, today is a day to take shelter from the elements at Croke Park.

Ultimately Monaghan were just the better side, Kildare could not find a way to edge in front when it was level on a couple of occasions in the second half. That’ll give Monaghan great confidence as they get set to entertain Kerry next Sunday in Clones. Kildare will welcome Galway to Newbridge.
15 Jul 2018

So that’s it from our first lot of games for the day. The Limerick hurlers march on to an All-Ireland semi-final while Kilkenny bow out. Monaghan and Kildare will be back in action next weekend. Emma Duffy will be keeping an eye on the Galway against Kerry game at 4pm in the Super 8s, follow that here.

Monaghan get over the finish line in front, a tight and tough battle where they prevailed by two points.
