KILKENNY ARE THE All-Ireland champions again — and now all that’s left to do is pick the Man of the Match from today’s hurling decider.
TJ Reid cemented his Hurler of the Year claims with another outstanding display, scoring 1-7 of the Cats’ total including a goal which kept them in touch when they were under the cosh in the first half.
Michael Fennelly and Eoin Larkin scored two points apiece from play but it was their ferocious competitiveness which helped to turn a tight contest in Kilkenny’s favour.
Joe Canning (1-8) and Jason Flynn (0-4) stood out for Galway in the first half before fading while, one rushed shot aside, 18-year-old Conor Whelan marked himself out with an exceptional performance in the half-forward line.
