KILDARE GAA LEGEND Johnny Doyle has been confirmed as the new senior football manager of Maynooth University GAA Club for the 2015/16 campaign.

Noel Mooney will join Doyle as selector, while the rest of his backroom team will be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Doyle, who won a Leinster Senior Championship with Kildare in 2000, said in reaction to the news:

“I’m looking forward to it. I suppose it’s not my first real jump into management, I was involved with Na Fianna (local amalgamation) underage but this is the highest level I will have been involved in.

“[I’m] looking forward to it, lots of learning, and I’m looking forward to getting in and getting to know the lads.

“It’s going to be a learning curve for me for the first couple of weeks to see what makes them tick and what sort of characters they are but I’m looking forward to that.”
