Unbeaten Khabib handed a new opponent after UFC main event is called off

Newcomer Darrell Horcher will step in next weekend after the injury to Tony Ferguson.

UFC LIGHTWEIGHT CONTENDER Khabib Nurmagomedov was this week dealt a blow as it was announced that his main event bout at UFC on Fox 19 had been pulled.

Opponent Tony Ferguson was forced out of the fight on next weekend’s Tampa card after fluid was found in his lung, meaning officials were under pressure to find a replacement in short notice.

Rafael dos Anjos, who was beaten by Nurmagomedov (22-0) on the Russian’s last outing back in April 2014, offered to put his lightweight title on the line at UFC 200 in July, and the UFC have opted to hand newcomer Darrell Horcher his debut in the promotion.

The 28-year-old (13-1) has been competing in Bellator and Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) and will contest the main card bout at a catchweight of 160 pounds next Saturday night.
