Walsh and Donoghue: set to stay on until 2019.

Big vote of confidence as Galway appoint Walsh and Donoghue for 3 more years

Steady as she goes in Galway.

KEVIN WALSH AND Micheal Donoghue have been ratified for new three-year terms as Galway’s senior football and hurling managers respectively.

In a big vote of confidence, the duo were reappointed until 2019 by the Galway county board on Monday night.

Walsh led the Tribesmen to their first provincial title in eight years, beating Mayo in a memorable Connacht semi-final before eventually prevailing in a replay against Roscommon.

But any hopes of further glory were dashed as Walsh’s second season at the helm came to an end with defeat to Tipperary in the All-Ireland quarter-finals.

Donoghue went one step further in his first season since taking over from Anthony Cunningham, steering 2015′s beaten All-Ireland finalists back to the semis where they lost by a point to eventual champions Tipperary.
