CORK CITY BOOKED a meeting with KRC Genk of Belgium in the third qualifying round of the Europa League last night at Turner’s Cross, where Kevin O’Connor scored the only goal of the game to give his side a 2-1 aggregate win against Swedish side BK Hacken.
O’Connor pounced late in the 25th minute, volleying home Greg Bolger’s free-kick with the help of a deflection off Hacken defender Emil Wahlstrom.
The game wasn’t televised but RTÉ have uploaded the goal today. Here’s the strike that helped City to eliminate a Swedish team from European competition for the third time in the club’s history…

Mon bray,we softened them up for ye on Sunday
Well done bray , many people’s choice for relegation , this draw will give them a spurt for the next round of games !
Must have been the wind/weather/seagulls/noise/or the odd crisp packet that put Dundalk off,or maybe it was a very gutsy performance from an underrated team against a vastly overrated team
@billy Dorney: forgot bubonic plague,Asian flu,the trots,eeeerrrrr4
@billy Dorney: teams that win 3 in a row and get to the group stages of European competition aren’t vastly overrated, but supporters of clubs who have only won their 3rd title wouldn’t know much about that!!
@billy Dorney: but obviously the best team last season despite losing out to a mediocre cork side
@Niall Hearty: meowwww
