With the Euros not far away, Kevin Doyle returned last night and scored a peach

The attacker picked up that gruesome leg injury while on international duty last month.

HE PICKED UP a nasty injury while playing for the Republic of Ireland against Switzerland last month but Kevin Doyle returned to action on Saturday night and conjured a lovely goal too.

Colorado Rapids made it three straight MLS wins with a 3-1 victory over Seattle Sounders with the Wexford native coming off the bench for the last twelve minutes.

And he was perfectly positioned at the near post to flick home Dennis Castillo’s right-wing cross four minutes from time.

The Rapids’ excellent start to the season means they’re second in the Western Conference standings, a point behind Dallas FC but having played a game less.

With marquee signing Jermaine Jones finding the net again last night and Tim Howard joining at the end of the Premier League season, Colorado seem a long way from the turbulence of last term.

That’s good for Doyle and certainly good for Ireland too.
