Bryan Sheehan the hero as South Kerry reach the Kingdom's SFC decider

The county star hit a long-range point to secure the win.

South Kerry 0-12
Kenmare District 0-11

A LAST GASP winner from by Bryan Sheenhan was enough to send South Kerry into their first county final in six years at the expense of Kenmare District.

It capped a solid individual performance from Sheehan whose four first half frees helped his side into a 0-5 to 0-4 lead at the break.

Declan O’Sullivan was sent off late on for South Kerry but, with his side trailing by two points with as many minutes to play, Sheenhan stepped up to the plate, knocking over two of their last three scores, Denis Daly with the other.

South Kerry will now play Legion in the decider on 8 November.

Elsewhere, there were wins for Emmet Og (Longford), Rathnew (Wicklow) and Portlaoise (Laois) in the opening round of the Leinster senior football championship while St Mary’s are the Sligo champions following a 1-20 to 2-11 win over Curry in Markievicz Park.
