13-man South Kerry through to provincial semi-final despite injury to Young

Killarney Legion were victorious in the day’s other quarter-final at Fitzgerald Stadium.

South Kerry 0-14 Kilcummin 1-8

Killarney Legion 4-10 Kerins O Rahillys 1-15

SOUTH KERRY HAVE progressed to the semi-finals of the Kerry senior football championship with a three-point win over Kilcummin at Fitzgerald Stadium.

Having been beaten by Shannon Rangers at the same stage a year ago, South Kerry booked their place in the last four with Brendan O’Sullivan scoring four points on the day.

They did it the hard way, however — losing Killian Young to injury 19 minutes into the second half and finishing the game with 13 men as both O’Sullivan and Bryan Sheehan were sent off after picking two yellow cards.

Chris O’Leary also received his marching orders for Kilcummin.

In today’s second quarter-final, Killarney Legion overcame Kerins O’Rahillys — 4-10 to 1-15.

Tomorrow sees West Kerry Board face Kenmare District Board (1.30pm) before Rathmore take on Dr Crokes (3pm) at the same ground.
