National Olympic Committee of Kenya chairman Kip Kaino said:
“We have sent Anzrah back home. He presented himself as an athlete, gave the urine sample and even signed the documents. We cannot tolerate such behaviour.”
Anzrah is the second official from Kenya’s athletics team to be sent home in disgrace from the Games after athletics manager Michael Rotich was caught on camera by the Sunday Times claiming he could provide advanced warning of drugs tests in return for a £10,000 bribe.
That controversy, on the first full day of these Games, came just a day after Kenya was removed from the World Anti-Doping Agency’s list of “non-compliant” nations, however, this fresh issue will put a greater spotlight on the African nation.
