Kellie Harrington secures AT LEAST a bronze medal with quarter-final win at World Champs

Katie Taylor is the only other Irish woman to have won a World Championship medal.

LIGHT WELTERWEIGHT KELLIE Harrington put on another impressive display at the Women’s World Boxing Championships in Astana today, winning her quarter-final by unanimous decision.

The Dubliner defeated Zarina Tsoloyeva on the cards of all three judges and even knocked the home favourite down in the third round.

The victory puts Harrington into a World Championship semi-final and means she is guaranteed at least a bronze medal. Harrington will become the only woman other than Katie Taylor to win a World Championship medal for Ireland.
