Katie Taylor has pulled out of fighting at Thomond Park next month

An agreement between the fight promoters and the Bray boxer couldn’t be reached.

KATIE TAYLOR WILL now not fight on the undercard of Andy Lee’s WBO title fight with Billy Joe Saunders on 19 September.

The Bray boxer had announced on Friday she would fight at Thomond Park next month but in a statement released today via her management company and the fight promoters, it was confirmed it will no longer be going ahead.

“It is with great regret that Katie Taylor will not be taking part on the Andy Lee Undercard at Thomond Park on September 19th. We would like to wish Andy all the best,” the statement read.

The reigning Olympic, world and European champion was due to appear at a press conference in Dublin on Wednesday to announce details of her fight.

“We believe we did everything we could to make this event happen but unfortunately on this occasion, the outcome was not to be,” Adam Booth, who is Andy Lee’s trainer and manager, said.

Middleweight champion Lee is set to defend his belt against Englishman Billy Joe Saunders at the home of Munster rugby.
