IRELAND’S KATIE TAYLOR has suffered a shock defeat in her European Olympic qualifying semi-final in Turkey this afternoon.
With Zaur Antia in her corner, the 2012 gold medallist faced Yana Alekseevna of Azerbaijan as she looked to secure her place at this summer’s Games.
However, the 29-year-old conceded the first round and came out second best on all three of the judge’s scorecards.

It is Taylor’s first loss since going down to Bulgaria’s Denitsa Eliseeva in 2011.
She will now have to reach the semi-finals of the World Championships in Astana next month to guarantee her spot in Rio.
Later today, Ireland’s Brendan Irvine and David Joyce compete in their semi-finals.
