Kane and Vardy on target as England secure Euros warm-up win

The strikers brought their excellent Premier League form to international level.

ENGLAND’S EURO 2016 preparations got off to a good start on Sunday as they beat Turkey 2-1 in an international friendly.

Jamie Vardy’s late goal sealed the win for Roy Hodgson’s men, adding to Harry Kane’s early opener to make Hakan Calhanoglu’s goal an irrelevance.

The Three Lions started the game in good shape, taking just two minutes to break the deadlock, although there was a strong hint of offside in it as Harry Kane was found in acres of space in the box by Dele Alli and he tucked it into the bottom corner.

Just 10 minutes later, though, Calhanoglu had levelled matters, knocking in from a Volkan Sen cut-back.

Roy Hodgson’s men were given the chance to restore their lead halfway through the second period as they were awarded a penalty, only for Kane to send it flying wide off the post.

And Vardy saved his team-mate’s blushes late on, pouncing on a loose ball and smashing it into the net to make it 2-1.
