Jurgen Klopp returns to Liverpool training after hospital visit

Klopp had a precautionary hospital appointment which forced him to miss Wednesday’s session.

JURGEN KLOPP HAS returned to Liverpool training after visiting hospital on Wednesday.

The Reds boss missed training as he attended a hospital appointment as a precautionary measure after feeling ill.

On Wednesday morning Klopp told Liverpool’s medical staff that he was feeling ill, and the 50-year-old German was urged to go to a hospital for further tests.

“He is being assessed by doctors and will be absent from training on Wednesday as a result,” the club said in a statement yesterday.

He was back at Melwood on Thursday, however, to oversee training as normal.

Liverpool return to Premier League action following the international break against Southampton at Anfield on Saturday.

Liverpool received a potential double fitness boost ahead of the return to Premier League action after Jordan Henderson and Adam Lallana took part in full training on Wednesday.

Reds captain Henderson was unavailable for the 4-1 rout of West Ham before the international break with a thigh complaint, and was absent for England’s friendlies against Germany and Brazil as a result.

Fellow midfielder Lallana has not played since August after damaging his thigh, and has been working on an individual programme. However, both players were back training ahead of the Southampton clash to potentially bolster Klopp’s options.
