Some of the world's best golfers will be heading back to Adare Manor in 2020

The JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am is returning for a fifth edition.

ADARE MANOR WILL host one of the biggest charity golf events in the world in 2020 when the JP McManus Invitational Pro-Am returns to the Limerick resort.

The star-studded event, hosted by JP McManus, was last staged in 2010 and has raised over โ‚ฌ100 million for charities in the mid-west of Ireland.

Adare Manor is currently undergoing extensive refurbishment and the staging of the Pro-Amโ€™s fifth edition is also hoped to coincide with Limerick being named European Capital of Culture for 2020.

Six years ago, the event attracted some of the most recognisable names from the game as McManus used his close personal ties with the likes of Tiger Woods and Pรกdraig Harrington to assemble a quality field.

A record 80,000 spectators attended the event in 2010, with fans also drawn to the famous amateurs who tee it up for the two-day event. Among the stars to feature last time were AP McCoy, Gary Lineker, Michael Douglas and Martin Oโ€™Neill.

The tournament roll of honour includes Woods (2000), Harrington (2005) and Darren Clarke (2010).

It will be the first event at Adare Manor since McManus purchased the luxury five-star hotel and golf resort for โ‚ฌ30 million in two years ago.

As part of the upgrade, McManus is enhancing the Tom Fazio designed course with the hope of staging more major tournaments, including the Irish Open.

Mayo need to work out a plan for oppositionโ€™s kickouts. Lost every one that went long in the first half. Against Dublin or Kerry they will get annilitated. What used to be Mayos strong point with Aiden, Seamus, Parsons itโ€™s now weak. Ruane and Loftus bring something different but fielding a high ball is not one of their strengths. Aiden needs to be moved out to the middle on Roscommon kickouts
