The Belgian midfielder was booed when he was introduced late on this afternoon.

MAN UNITED MANAGER Jose Mourinho has dedicated his side’s 1-0 victory over Tottenham to midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

The Belgian international was heavily criticised for giving away a late penalty at Everton last week and his introduction this afternoon was met by a chorus of boos from a section of the home support.

But Mourinho has once again defended Fellaini and ended his post-match interview with Sky Sports by underlining the player’s importance at Old Trafford.

“I want to dedicate this victory to Fellaini because he deserves it,” Mourinho said. “In the last match, it was him that was involved in the loss of two points, and that’s why I want to make it clear he is an important player for me.

“The fans can do what they want and they have been phenomenal with us. I just have to thank them for everything they are giving us, especially in the period where we are not giving them too much so I am really happy with them.

“I accept it, because from the fans you have to accept everything, and especially from fans who are giving everything to us but are not getting anything from us,” he added.

“They get commitment and performance but they don’t get results. I think the point was that they had in their minds the mistake Marouane did at Everton.

“Marouane is a player that I like, and a person that I like.”
