IRELAND INTERNATIONAL JONNY Hayes has ended speculation over his immediate future by putting pen-to-paper on a contract extension at Aberdeen.
The winger, capped twice by Martin O’Neill, was the subject of three failed bids from Cardiff City last month but has today committed his future to the Scottish club.
Hayes had 18 months left on his current deal with Aberdeen but has now tied down his future at Pittodrie until at least the summer of 2019.
“I was more than happy to sign again and I have appreciated every minute that I have been here and I am still enjoying it as well working under the manager [Derek McInnes],” Hayes said.

“When I signed the last extension, I think it was three years ago, I always said that as long as he was here I would be happy to stay and I think that is the same with a lot of the boys.”
The Dubliner started his career at Reading and had spells at MK Dons, Leicester City, Northampton Town and Cheltenham Town before settling in Scotland with Inverness and then Aberdeen.

Hayes has been with the Dons since 2012 and has scored six times in 26 appearances this season.
The 29-year-old was called-up to the Ireland senior squad last March and made his debut off the bench against Switzerland.
Cardiff were keen to bring him to the Championship during the recent January transfer window but their offers fell below Aberdeen’s valuation.
During his time in Scotland, Hayes has helped Aberdeen win the Scottish League Cup and finish second in the league on two occasions.
