Referee Colm Lyons felt that Farrell had struck Michael Carton but Kilkenny chose to appeal the ban to the Central Hearings Committee.
“On the basis of the video evidence provided, the Hearings Committee found that the Infraction was not proven and directed that the Disciplinary Action be at an end,” a statement this morning confirmed.
The CHC upheld the red card shown to Brian Curran during Sligo’s Division 3 football defeat against Limerick.
The wing-back had already been yellow carded when he was shown a black card and sent off, much to the frustration of manager Niall Carew.
“The Hearings Committee found that the video evidence provided was not sufficiently compelling to rebut the cynical behaviour infraction as alleged and directed that the original fixed penalty apply for the cynical behaviour infraction apply.”
