The Ireland defender makes his first Premier League start of the season for Dick Advocaat’s side, with Younes Kaboul (who is currently injured) and Sebastián Coates previously chosen ahead of him.
O’Shea’s return will be good news for Ireland boss Martin O’Neill, who during the week week expressed concern about the absence of several Irish players from their teams’ first XIs.
Elsewhere, Damien Delaney, Ciaran Clark and Jack Grealish all start as Crystal Palace host Aston Villa.
Meanwhile, Glenn Whelan, Robbie Brady and Wes Hoolahan feature in Norwich-Stoke game, while Stephen Ireland, Shay Given and Marc Wilson are on the bench.
Darren Randolph makes his West Ham Premier League debut, while Ireland U19 international Josh Cullen is on the bench. For the Hammers’ opponents, Eunan O’Kane keeps his place in the Bournemouth team.
