Clare will be without the influential John Conlon for Sunday's league final

The forward has been ruled out with an ankle injury.

CLARE HAVE SUFFERED a major injury setback ahead of their Allianz League final against Waterford after John Conlon was ruled out of Sunday’s game.

The 27-year-old will be sidelined for the next few weeks after sustaining ankle ligament damage in the semi-final victory over Kilkenny.

Clare People are reporting that the forward is now also in a race to be fit for the Munster championship semi-final against the Déise on 5 June.

It’s a big blow for Davy Fitzgerald with Conlon playing a central role to Clare’s journey to the final, scoring goals against Limerick, Tipperary and Kilkenny.

The Banner County recorded five wins from five outings in Division 1B en-route to promotion and then defeated Tipperary and Kilkenny in the quarter and semi-final respectively.

Clare are seeking to win their first league title since 1978 in Thurles.
