JOHN CARVER MAY have only earned nine points out of a possible 48 since taking over at Newcastle, but he still considers himself to be the best coach in the Premier League.

The 50-year-old has come under pressure of late, with Newcastle just two points above the relegation zone after losing eight games on the trot, including last weekend’s dismal 3-0 loss to Leicester.

Yet Carver insisted: “I still feel I am the best coach in the Premier League”.

In Thursday’s press conference, he also produced a letter, said to be from club captain Fabricio Coloccini, encouraging fans to back the side in spite of recent problems at the club.
