Poll: Would Joe Brolly's rule change to 'rescue Gaelic football' actually work?

The pundit wants an exclusion zone for non-midfielders between the 45s during kick-outs.

OUTSPOKEN GAELIC FOOTBALL pundit Joe Brolly today presented a ‘solution’ to the prevalence of defensive tactics in the game.

Along with his column in today’s Sunday Independent, Brolly outlines a rule change that would force teams to begin playing from midfield.

Brolly’s suggestion is that kick-outs must go beyond the 45 metre line and only two midfielders from each team may be allowed in the middle of the field, between the two 45s, before the ball lands.

Here are some reactions views presented to Brolly on Twitter this morning.

Lots of people thought it was great

Some questioned the need to make a 45 metre kick mandatory

We can already see teams finding a way around it

What do you think? Would Brolly’s proposed rule change – in its current form – work and make the game a more open and attacking spectacle? Or would it be just another complication?

It'll never work (371)
