WITH REPORTS THAT Tyrone’s Tiernan McCann is set to be handed an eight-week ban for his dive against Monaghan at the weekend, GAA pundit Joe Brolly has responded by saying such a decision would be “unlawful”.
While McCann has been widely condemned for his behaviour, Brolly — who was among the player’s critics after Saturday’s game — says the proposed attempt to ban McCann for eight weeks is ill-advised.
In a series of tweets, the former Derry player gave his take on the matter.
Tyrone boss Mickey Harte defended McCann in the wake of the incident, claiming his player was not solely responsible for the trouble and adding:
“That’s life. Young people make mistakes from time to time.”
