LIVERPOOL MANAGER BRENDAN Rodgers might have lost his job under different ownership, according to midfielder Joe Allen.
Liverpool endured a disappointing 2014-15 campaign and only managed to finish sixth in the Premier League, despite ending the season prior as runners-up.
Rodgers came under increased scrutiny following Liverpool’s failure to qualify for the Champions League but was spared the sack, despite assistant Colin Pascoe and coach Mike Marsh both being shown the door.
And Allen admits that, under different bosses, Rodgers could well have lost his job, though he says the players must take responsibility.
“Yeah, of course, some owners may have been less tolerant after the way the season went,” the Wales international told the Mirror.
But the players we’ve got here are all honest players who take responsibility.
“At the end of the day, we were the ones who let the supporters, the manager and the staff down – and ourselves down as well.
“It’s as simple as that.
“So it’s up to us to get back out there and get back to the levels we know we can reach.”
Very unfair headline to put out. Having witnessed the incident it looked like a total accident, a collision on the sideline that couldn’t be avoided. Use of the word altercation is totally wrong.
A lot of fighting and brawling in today’s games
@John O Reilly: sure doesn’t the sh?te weather put us all in bad form
From what I’ve heard it was an accidental collision but he hit his head when he fell. Hopefully he’ll be OK. As for the comments above, stay classy. It’s not a nice situation for the Clare player to be in either.
Unintentional I hear
@Seán O’Sullivan: unintentionally hospitalised!!
@Dead Ball Browne: were u there??
@Declan Cassidy: Don’t think he needs to have been there to know he was hospitalised considering it’s been confirmed he was.
This was an accident bure and simple
a lot of miss reporting on this.
