JJ HANRAHAN FEATURED as Munster’s A side beat an Ospreys Premiership Select 24-6 in the British and Irish Cup today.

The 25-year-old was left out of the senior team’s matchday squad for their upcoming Champions Cup clash against Castres, with Rassie Erasmus wanting the player to get substantial game time at outhalf.

Hanrahan, whose re-signing with Munster was announced back in January after a two-year spell with Northampton Saints, registered seven points in the Irish province’s win.

His penalty levelled the scores after 28 minutes, before he converted a Kevin O’Byrne try just after half-time, which gave Munster a 10-6 lead.

He then added another conversion, after Gavin Coombes scored Munster’s second try to make it 17-6 to the visitors.

A 77th-minute John Poland try was then converted by Bill Johnston to complete a convincing victory for Peter Malone’s team.
