Jet Setting stuns Aidan O'Brien's Minding to land 1,000 Guineas

Winner was supplemented into the race on Monday at a cost of €30,000.

JET SETTING WAS the shock winner of the Irish 1,000 Guineas at the Curragh, getting up to pip the favourite Minding by a head in a thrilling finish.

Aidan O’Brien’s filly was sent off at a red-hot 4/11 to follow up on her Newmarket win of three weeks ago and make it a Guineas double.

But she was edged by Adrian Keatley’s 9/1 shot as the two pulled clear of the field and drove to the line.

Now or Never, second to Jet Setting in the Guineas trial at Leopardstown in April, was 10 lengths back in third.

Ridden by Shane Foley, Jet Setting could manage to finish no better than ninth at Newmarket but as conditions turned soft earlier this week, she was supplemented into the race on Monday at a cost of €30,000.

With a first prize worth €171,000 on offer today, connections have recouped that and more.
