Jerry Collins' recovering baby daughter was a proud Hurricanes fan in hospital this morning

Ayla was pictured draped in her father’s old Hurricanes jersey this morning.

WHILE THE HURRICANES lost out to the Highlanders in this morning’s Super Rugby final, this photo of Ayla Collins, the daughter of the late All Black Jerry Collins may just soothe their pain.

Collins and his partner Alana both passed away in June after a car crash in the south of France, and their infant daughter Ayla was in a critical condition for several weeks.

However, since the end of June, Ayla has been said to be conscious and bottle-feeding, and this picture shows she’s probably inherited some of the strength her father was famous for.

Neemia Tialata, a former teammate and close friend of Jerry’s, posted this heartwarming message and picture to the Hurricanes as they prepared for this morning’s final.

The picture shows Tialata in hospital in France feeding little Ayla, who is suitably draped in the shirt her father wore the last time the Hurricanes were in the Super Rugby final in 2006.

While the Hurricanes will no doubt be disappointed with the defeat, they may take some comfort in this picture.
