But there was still time for Lewis Cook to ping a lovely ball over the top to Defoe:

And after a single bounce, arced a perfectly-placed shot that dipped over Julian Speroni’s head and under the crossbar, nestling in the corner:
Look at that angle — and the Palace keeper didn’t even get close:
