Seahawks cornerback joins Colin Kaepernick by sitting during national anthem

Colin Kaepernick sat during the anthem for all four of the 49ers pre-season games.

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS CORNERBACK, Jeremy Lane, became the latest player to join Colin Kaepernick’s protest against the United States’ national anthem last night.

Lane decided to stay sitting as the anthem was played, before the Seahawks’ tight 23-21 win over the Oakland Raiders.

Kaepernick’s 49ers teammate, safety Eric Reid, also refused to stand last night as the anthem rang out on San Francisco’s final pre-season game against the San Diego Chargers.

Of the 32 NFL teams, 30 were in action last night and all players, except for Kaepernick, Reid and Lane continued to stand during the national anthems.

Kaepernick’s stance has been getting a mixed reaction and he was the subject of booing and jeering from some of the crowd at last night’s game.

Kaepernick has been refusing to stand in protest during the national anthem prior to the 49ers’ preseason games, saying he is “not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”
