Jason Quigley proves he can go the distance with unanimous points win in Vegas

It was the first time the Donegal man had to go beyond four rounds and he didn’t look an inch out of his depth.

JASON QUIGLEY CONTINUED his impressive run up the US boxing ranks last night with a unanimous points victory over highly-rated Mexican middleweight James de la Rosa.

The Las Vegas bout, on the undercard of Canelo Alvarez’ win over Amir Khan, became the first time the Donegal man was forced to fight beyond the fourth round in his professional career.

After landing some powerful shots early on, Quigley built on his points lead, De la Rosa only getting a succession of punches in while locking arms. Quigley never looked overly anxious to finish the fight, instead he picked off his opponent on the way to 100 – 90 win on the cards of all three judges.

The Ballybofey boxer has now won all 11 of his professional bouts and last night’s 10-rounder was only the second time he has not won by knock-out.

Watch Quigley’s fight back in full, from around 2:05, on Ring TV Live.
