AFTER BREAKING HIS major duck with a record-breaking victory at the US PGA Championship, Jason Day has set his sights on topping the world rankings.
Day had recorded nine previous top-10 finishes in major tournaments before triumphing in style at Whistling Straits last night, his winning score of 20 under par the lowest in major championship history.

Jordan Spieth — winner of The Masters and US Open this season — maintained his excellent record in 2015 to claim second — a result that saw him replace Rory McIlroy as world number one.
Most pundits are tipping McIlroy, who was the defending champion in Wisconsin, and Spieth to battle it out for top spot in the years to come, but Day — up to third in the rankings — has other ideas.
“I still want to accomplish that number one goal of mine, which is to be the best player in the world,” the Australian said. “I’m still motivated and still very hungry for that, even after this win.
“Stuff like this is just the icing on the top of the cake, when you work so hard and being able to achieve something like this.
“What I’m looking forward to in the future is the sheer competition of being able to fight against these guys each week. It’s going to be a lot of fun over the next five to 10 years. As long as I am healthy, I feel like I’m going to be there a long time.”
