Arsenal reportedly meet £20 million release clause in chase for Jamie Vardy

The England striker signed a new contract with Leicester this season.

LEICESTER CITY STRIKER Jamie Vardy looks like he will have to decide his future in the week before he aims to bring his Premier League-winning form the international stage.

This evening, The Guardian are among those reporting that Arsenal have matched the £20 million buy-out clause in the 29-year-old’s contract.

Meeting the clause value means Arsenal will be permitted to negotiate with Vardy, who scored 24 goals in Leicester’s improbable run to the title. However, the England striker may opt to remain loyal to the team who gave him a new three and a half year contract earlier this year after helping him rise to the top of the game having languished in the lower leagues for so long.
