A FORMER FIFA vice-president has used a fake article from satirical news website The Onion to defend himself against corruptions claims laid against him.

Jack Warner surrendered himself to to police in Trinidad and Tobago on Wednesday but has maintained his innocence all week. He was released after paying $400,000 in bail.

Now, in an eight-minute video uploaded to Facebook, Warner attack the United States for its investigations into Fifa that have indicted him and eight others.

“All of this stems from a lost bid to host the 2022 World Cup,” says Warner.

“They lost to Qatar, a small country, a Muslim country …. No country in the world have divine right to host the World Cup.”

Warner uses a spoof article from The Onion, titled ‘FIFA Frantically Announces 2015 Summer World Cup In United States’, to bolster his argument.

“If Fifa is so bad, why is it the USA wants to keep the Fifa World Cup? Why is it that games began on May 27th, two days before the Fifa election? Why is the US authorities sought to embarrass Fifa in Zurich? Something has to be wrong.

Yes Jack. Something is indeed wrong.
