Jack Grealish suspended due to "violent conduct"

The Villa winger faces a three-match ban following a stamping incident in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Wolves.

JACK GREALISH HAS been given a three-match ban for a stamping incident during Aston Villa’s weekend derby with Wolves.

The 21-year-old appeared to stamp on Wolves midfielder Conor Coady during the 1-1 draw, but the offence went unseen by referee David Coote and his match officials.

The late first-half incident was captured on video and the FA have since viewed Grealish’s actions as “violent conduct”.

The England Under-21 international accepted the charge but felt the three-match ban was harsh. His claim was rejected.

An FA statement read: “Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after he committed an act of violent conduct which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.”

As a result, Villa will be without the winger against Reading tonight. Grealish will also miss Saturday’s home match against Fulham, followed by the club’s second local derby at St Andrews at the end of the month.
