MARIN CILIC AND John Isner’s five-set Wimbledon epic came to a quick conclusion on Saturday afternoon as Cilic won the first two games following the restart to book his place in the last 16.
It took four hours and 30 minutes, split over two days, for the Croatian to seal a 7-6 6-7 6-4 6-7- 12-10 win and book his place in the last 16.
The pair spent more than four hours deadlocked on Friday before the fading light forced the conclusion to be postponed overnight.

When they resumed, Cilic held serve before Isner double-faulted when defending match point to hand him the win.
The game was more than six hours shorter than Isner’s incredible marathon match against Nicolas Mahut in 2010 which he won 70-68 in the deciding set.
