Irish teenager signs new four-year contract with Man City

The youngster previously played for Dublin-based side Cherry Orchard FC.

YOUNG IRISH DEFENDER Tyreke Wilson has signed a new four-year contract with Man City, it has been confirmed.

Wilson’s former club Cherry Orchard FC announced the news on Facebook today, with the Ireland U17 international having joined the Dublin-based club at U9s level.

The teenager originally signed for Man City in 2013, and has evidently progressed well since then.

Although few youngsters have made a successful transition to senior level at City in recent years, Wilson can take encouragement from the progress of academy product Kelechi Iheanacho, who broke into the first team towards the end of last season.

Furthermore, another Irish-born City youngster, Jack Byrne, had some success on loan with Dutch side SC Cambuur last campaign, while he is set for a temporary stay at Championship side Blackburn Rovers this season.
