THE SIX NOMINEES for the Bord Gáis Energy Sports Book of the Year have been announced with GAA, soccer, boxing and rugby all represented on the shortlist.

As is always the case, autobiographies dominate with the winner set to be announced at the annual Awards Dinner on 25 November.

Former Ireland goalkeeper Packie Bonner is among those vying for this year’s prize with his autobiography The Last Line by Henry Shefflin, Jim McGuinness and Tomás Ó’Sé are also in contention.

The42‘s Rugby World Cup columnist Peter Stringer has been recognised for his autobiography Pulling The Strings while Sean McGoldrick’s inside story on Ireland’s boxing tradition completes the list.
